12:00 PM — 4:00 PM
Vera Institute of Justice

Family involvement is essential for positive youth outcomes. It is particularly important for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. In recognition of this fact, the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform at the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy and the Vera Institute of Justice are publishing a paper authored by Ryan Shanahan and Margaret diZerega, Identifying, Engaging, and Empowering Families: A Charge for Juvenile Justice Agencies.

The paper will be released at an afternoon meeting on February 24th hosted by the Vera Institute of Justice. This afternoon discussion will be focused on the critical role families can play in juvenile justice reform. We invite you to participate in a conversation with key stakeholders in the juvenile justice system—family advocates, community-based organizations, government officials, and philanthropic partners—around strategies for identifying, engaging, and empowering families.

National dissemination of the paper will occur after the event on February 24.
