Kesha Jagdeo

Kesha joined Vera as associate general counsel in 2020. In this role, she drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts; assists in managing the Institutional Review Board; and coordinates pro bono work. Kesha’s background is in public defense and not-for-profit management, having served as a criminal defense attorney with the New York Legal Aid Society for 13 years and as director of empowerment services with Brooklyn’s RiseBoro Community Partnership.

Kesha holds a BA in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a JD from Tulane Law School, and an MA from Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She is committed to supporting the growth and professional development of attorneys and people of color, which she has done through researching the retention and promotion of attorneys of color in U.S. law firms for her MA; promoting Vera’s Race, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative; and serving on the Career Advancement & Management Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
