Providing Information About Prosecution Witnesses The Effects on Case-Processing Decisions in Criminal Court


This 1979 report analyzes the effects of three types of information provided to courts by the Victim/Witness Assistance Project (V/WAP) when it was made available in a systematic way:

(1) informing courtroom prosecutors that a civilian witness, absent on a hearing date, was interested in coming to court at another time,

(2) informing prosecutors' supervisors that the witnesses could not ever be expected to appear in court, and 

(3) providing information about police witnesses' duty schedules.
